This is what Josh does for his job.  In graph form.  I'm not sure what it means, but Josh does :)

School

Since college is really long and has been a huge part of my life I figured I should do a recap.  But this won't just be any recap.

College Finals:  The good, the bad, and the ugly.

Semseter 1:  Used an entire empty wall and re-wrote all of my class notes onto post-its in different colors and posted on my wall.  Good habit.  I learn well from writing and reading, so the repetition of writing and reading with this one was good.  The bad part was HOW LONG IT TOOK.

Semester 2:  Reviewed class notes while watching Disney movies on VHS.  This one was okay and BAD.  For some reason the forced distraction of a movie I know well made it so I didn't have to seek out distractions from studying (like facebook), so this is fairly effective.  BAD because I studied on my bed and often fell asleep studying.

Semester 3:  Studied notes and readings while Josh was studying.  Being in a place free from distractions kind of got on my nerves, but since I felt guilty if Josh was stuyding and I wasn't, I studied a lot.

Semester 4: Watched some stuff on Netflix so didn't study much except for cramming right before the tests.  But that's okay, because my classes were easy and I had less credits this semester.  This would NOT have worked if I had more/harder classes.

Semester 5: Stayed up really late finals week because of not having time because of work.  Used a lot of notecards.  Skim read a lot of the readings I didn't get to.  Good because I covered a lot of the material.  Bad because I didn't get much sleep.

Current Semester: Re-read all of my copious notes.  Used the study guides.  Possibly will just rely on my luck with b.s. on at least one of the tests.  Finals are still in progress...

Somehow I still have a good gpa...   I have only gotten lower than a B on a final once, so I think I've done quite well.

So, today is my last day of college classes.

I missed my classes on Monday, and apparently my 8:30am class was cancelled today.  If only I had gone to class on Monday, I would have saved myself from walking all the way to campus to an empty classroom.

Oh well.  I am using my extra time to get some other stuff done.

One paper down.  One project down.

Up next: tests.

I really like getting multiple bills for health care related stuff.

Not.

10 things

college has taught me:

1. Don't judge a book by its cover.  Don't judge a semester by the first day.  Don't judge your future by 4 years in college.
2. Make sacrifices.  You won't get anything good out of life if you don't sacrifice.
3. Finals will come.  They always come.  Meaning: the end you think is far away really isn't as far away as you think.  And that end will come.
4. Take naps.
5. Summer doesn't last forever.  But neither does the semester.  The good and bad times in our lives come and go.  Enjoy where you are at, because you soon won't be there anymore.
6. Take time.  Don't do things with half the effort or half the time those things deserve.  If you aren't putting as much time or effort into something as you want to, then you are probably doing too much stuff.  Cut something out of your life and make time for the better things.
7. You don't need to know everything that you will do for the next fifty years by the time you graduate.  Go with the flow.  Have adventures.  Life probably won't work out the way you planned anyway.
8.  Have goals.  Life might not turn out the way you planned, but just make sure YOU turn out the way you planned.  You don't want to look at yourself one day and ask: who did I become?
9. It really doesn't matter what other people think of you.  But, you will certainly get more respect if you act/dress/talk like a person everyone could like.
10. Don't let your education be a means to an end.  You will dread all of the experiences if you go through college with the end result of having a job in mind.  Let your education be an end unto itself and you will come off as much more educated.
